Hoodia Hype.

Posted by: Ektz   in Blog, Reviews

The BBC people reported on the Hoodia gordonii plant in late 2003. Also 60 Minutes aired a report on the effectiveness of the Hoodia. .

So, what is hoodia?

Hoodia is a plant usually found in southern Africa. They are often described as “cactiform” because of their remarkable similarity to the actually unrelated cactus family. The plants can reach up to 1m high and have large flowers, often with flesh colour and strong smell.

But what makes them so special?

The use of Hoodia has long been known by the people of Southern Africa, who infrequently use these plants for treating indigestion and small infections. Now they are used as natural appetite suppressant to loose weight and fight obesity.

Surely an interesting fact to read. So many discoveries on this particular subject has been done over the years, but this discovery has been featured on The Oprah show, it must have something scientifically true, isn’t it?
